A graduate in Psychology, Nevin also obtained a Diploma in Business Administration from Queen’s University of Belfast. Nevin has accrued a broad experience in a number of mental health and learning disability settings, culminating in the setting up of Praxis Mental Health as a charity in 1981 and two further charities Challenge and Respond in 1993.  Nevin is the Chief Executive of Praxis Care, an amalgamation of the three charities.  Nevin was also involved in setting up an integrated school and chaired the Dementia and Mental Health Issues of Older People Working Committee as part of the Bamford Review of Mental Health and Learning Disability (NI).

Irene has worked with Praxis Care since October 1993, having previously worked in the statutory sector for fifteen years in a variety of posts, which included operational responsibility for Mental Health Services and Learning Disability Services. Irene has a particular interest in staff development, research and organisational systems.

Alyson has worked in statutory services for twenty-three years including hospital social work, family and childcare as well as health care, encompassing a range of physical and mental health issues. Alyson is a past Chair of BASW (NI) and completed a three year term as a member of the Northern Ireland Social Care Council, the regulating body for social work and social care in 2005. She was a member of the Bamford Review contributing to the working group on Older People and Mental Health.  She joined Praxis Care in 2000 as Director of Care and has had responsibility for all operational services in Learning Disability, Mental Health and Older People until 2008. Currently she has lead responsibility for service development, PR, Volunteering and Fundraising.

Pauline joined Praxis Care in April 2003. She is a fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Ireland and the Chartered Institute of Taxation. She has worked in the public and private sectors for over twenty years. Throughout the last ten years she has headed up large accounting and administration departments and thus came to the organisation with a vast range of experience in financial and administration issues and project management.

Andy joined Praxis Care as Director of Care in February 2009. Previously Andy had worked in the statutory sector for 18 years, most recently as Assistant Director of Older People’s Services in the South Eastern Health and Social Care Trust. Most of Andy’s previous experience has been in mental health, dementia, primary care and older people’s services. He worked in field and residential social work as well as care management prior to moving into management.
