Fiona Duignan – Assistant Director of Development – M.A H.Dip B.A

Fiona Duignan commenced work with Praxis Care in January 2017.

Fiona commenced her career as a Youth Worker with Midland Regional Youth Services.  She then moved to Dublin to work as Project Coordinator with a crime diversion programme in the North Inner City with the Belvedere Youth Club.  She continued to work with young people at risk and moved on to become Programme Manager with  Youth Advocate Programmes in North Inner City Dublin. This progamme supported 50 young people annually to live in the community with a wraparound model of local supports so as to prevent the young person from entering more restrictive forms of care.

In 2005 Fiona was promoted internally to Assistant National Director where her role was to expand provision of services nationally.  Services were developed in a number of Counties.

Fiona continued her work with children and young people and worked with Barnardos as Project Coordinator with the Family Welfare Conference Project which covered Louth/Meath/Cavan/Monaghan.

In 2008 Fiona took on a role of Policy & Project Manager at Inclusion Ireland (National Association for people with an Intellectual Disability) for 8 ½ years.

Fiona believes that people with intellectual disability should be afforded the opportunity to participate in their local community as equal citizens and to live the life of their choosing.
