Praxis Care Befriending World Mental Health Day Coffee Morning – 9th October 2015

A group of Praxis Care staff, Volunteer Befrienders and Befriendees met together to mark World Mental Health Day at Common Grounds Cafe on University Avenue with a Coffee Morning.

Everyone was reminded of steps to improve their own mental health and that of others:

  1. Talk about your feelings
  2. Eat well
  3. Keep in touch
  4. Take a break
  5. Accept who you are
  6. Keep Active
  7. Drink Sensibly
  8. Ask for help
  9. Do something you are good at
  10. Care for others

Our Befriending service supports individuals who feel lonely or isolated as a result of their mental ill health by matching them up with a Volunteer Befriender to go out for a walk, for a coffee and most importantly chat and catch up.  Our Befriending Service is part of the Together For You Project which is funded by the Big Lottery Fund.

The Coffee Morning was a great success with lots of chat, coffee and good food.  Special thanks go to Common Grounds and their team for hosting us all so well.
