Praxis Care celebrates 10 years in Navan

Praxis Care recently marked its 10th anniversary of providing intellectual disability services in Navan.

Service users, family members, staff and friends attended a celebration event in the Praxis Care residential home in Meenalig, Co Navan.

Praxis Care, registered as a charity in 1983, is a major provider of services for adults and children with a learning disability, mental ill health, acquired brain injury and for older people, including people with dementia.

The projects in Navan provide accommodation and support services to individuals with mild to moderate intellectual disabilities and complex behaviour.  The project consists of two sites providing accommodation and support for 11 individuals in Navan.  The aim of the service is to enable people with intellectual difficulties and challenging behaviour to live independently in the local community.

Graham Gillespie, Manager of Praxis Care, Navan Projects says:

‘Praxis Care provides a vital support service to the service users in the Navan area.

We work in partnership with service users, their families, HSE and Health Information and Quality Authority (HIQA) and a variety of local agencies to meet the needs of people with intellectual disabilities to live independently in the community.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank the staff team for their work and commitment to the scheme over the years.  We look forward to continuing our work in the future.’
