The Praxis Care, West Belfast Scheme celebrates 20 years of service to the local community.
The Praxis Care, West Belfast Scheme provides a dispersed intensively supported housing for 16 adults with mental ill health. Dispersed Intensively Supported Housing (DISH) service is when individuals are housed in individual houses or flats in the community and have regular support from staff according to their needs.
The aim of the service is to enable the individuals to live more independently within the local community area. The staff provide support to the individuals through weekly visits where they assist each of them in daily living activities such as cooking, shopping and also provide a listening ear.
Nevin Ringland, Chief Executive of Praxis Care, says:
‘Praxis Care provides a vital support service to the service users in West Belfast.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank the staff team for their work and commitment to the scheme over the years. We look forward to continuing our work in the future.’
Grainne Doyle, Service User at the West Belfast Scheme says:
‘I have been living in my Praxis Care home for 19 years. I moved from hospital into the Praxis Care supported accommodation scheme in Belfast.
At the start I received support from the Praxis Care staff twice a week and was phoned every day. Now I receive support once a week and the staff are here if I need a chat anytime.
Living with Praxis Care has given me the confidence to become more independent.
Praxis Care provides a great service and the staff are so helpful and pleasant’.
