Praxis Care, a charity which provides services for people affected by mental ill health, learning disability and dementia is running a sponsored diet campaign for St Valentine’s Day 2012.
The sponsored event will run from Monday 9th January to Thursday 23rd February 2012.
The challenge is a weight loss programme which will focus on three different elements required to help people lose weight:
1. Good nutrition
3. Cognitive Behavioural Therapy
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) describes a number of therapies that all have a similar approach to solving problems. CBT works by changing people’s attitudes and their behaviour.
All individuals must sign up to take part in the Praxis Care St Valentine’s Diet Challenge and need to raise a minimum of £160 sponsorship money including £10 registration fee.
Geraldine Andrews, Fundraising Officer for Praxis Care says;
“The Praxis Care St Valentine’s Diet Challenge is a fun and healthy way to support the work of Praxis Care. Once you sign up a pack will be sent out to you which will include a diet sheet, self help tips and a sponsorship form.
There will be 6 weekly sessions provided by Herbalife and Cognitive Behavioural Therapists in venues throughout Northern Ireland”.
MLA for South Down and Deputy Chairman of the Health Committee, Jim Wells, is supporting the initiative, commenting;
“I am delighted to be signing up to the Praxis Care St Valentine’s Diet Challenge and to be supporting the work of Praxis Care”.
“It is difficult day to day to make sure that you are eating the right things, so I am glad that I could maybe take a few inches off my waist and a few pounds off my weight”
“I hope that many people out in Northern Ireland will take on the challenge and join the Praxis Care St. Valentine’s Diet Challenge”.
