Learning disability is lifelong condition - acquired before, during or soon after birth and it affects an individual’s ability to learn. It is one of the most common forms of disability in UK and Ireland affecting 1.5 million individuals  
 
Although there is no permanent cure for a learning disability, it need not necessarily prevent individuals from living very full and satisfying lives.
