Abbey Real Estate “score above par” for Praxis Care!

The second annual Praxis Care / Abbey Real Estate Golf Classic at the Hilton Templepatrick Town and Country Club was a fantastic success with £6,332 raised for the work of the charity Praxis Care.

After enjoying a late morning brunch, and being presented with a goodie bag including tray bakes made by Praxis Care Conlig Work Skills, the 17 teams commenced with a shotgun start.

Once the teams had started, there was a special Praxis Care service user competition run by Eamonn Logue (Director of Golf at the Hilton Templepatrick Town and Country Club) with 14 service users from Praxis Care schemes from throughout Ireland including Conlig, Derry, Ardee, Kesh, Navan and Hillsborough. The most improved golfers awards went to Tara Holton (Kesh) and David Lally (Ardee).

Once the teams returned from golf they were treated to a three course meal in the Castle Upton suite followed by golf stories from Eamonn Logue.

After the dinner there was an auction including a weekend break at the Hilton Templepatrick – with use of a Vauxhall car, Graeme McDowell signed hat and polo shirt, Padraig Harrington signed glove and golf ball, Rory McIlroy glove and Darren Clarke signed flag.

The evening finished off with a prize giving ceremony with top team being awarded to Maguire Fairweather solicitors and top individual score card to John Kernahan.

Fred Ashton (Managing Director –  Abbey Real Estate) says:

“Abbey Real Estate was delighted to run the Golf Classic with both the day and the night being a great success with over 17 teams and 82 golfers taking part. It was a pleasure to be involved with the event and support the fantastic work of Praxis Care and I am looking forward to next year’s Golf Classic. It was particularly rewarding to have Praxis Care service users involved in the Golf Classic.”

Paul Collins (Assistant Director – Fundraising / PR – Praxis Care) says:

“The Praxis Care / Abbey Real Estate Golf Classic is one of our main corporate fundraising events in 2013.

It marks the second year that Praxis Care has worked with Fred Ashton and Abbey Real Estate on the Golf Classic. Other ways in which Fred and Abbey Real Estate have supported Praxis Care include sponsoring the celebration event on the Twin Peaks Walk Challenge, as well as endorsing the  launch of World Mental Health Day, Secret Garden Treasure Hunt and the 30th Anniversary Gala Ball.

This partnership shows what can be achieved by the voluntary sector working in partnership with companies. We hope we can build upon this success in 2014 and have already set the date of Friday 6th June 2014 for the next Praxis Care / Abbey Real Estate Golf Classic!”

Praxis Care is a leading charity empowering adults and children with mental ill health, leaning disability or acquired brain injury to enjoy every day life irrespective of complexity of their needs.
