To mark Befriending Week 2014 Praxis Care hosted a coffee morning for Befriending Volunteers, Befriending Service Users, Referral Agents and other key stakeholders of the Befriending Scheme.
Praxis Care Befriending is one of the services provided under the Together For You Project with support from the Big Lottery Fund.
The morning was a great success with everyone enjoying scones with jam and cream and other homemade cakes and buns along with plenty of tea and coffee. The event was an opportunity for everyone to meet and share their experiences of Praxis Care Befriending.
The feedback for Praxis Care Befriending was really positive. One of the Befriending Service Users said “spending time with my befriender makes my world a little larger and going out helps me feel less isolated”. Befriending volunteers also feel a benefit from being involved, one said that he values Praxis Care Befriending because “of the difference it makes to peoples’ lives, both Befriender and Befriendee”.
Befriending is about reducing feelings of loneliness and isolation; it helps to build confidence and motivation for both the volunteer and the service user.
