On Wednesday 6 March 2013 Dr Marina Bowe, Consultant Psychiatrist and Programme Manger with the Genio Trust visited the Praxis Care Office in Ardee. Dr Bowe had called to meet with staff and members of the Steering Group for two projects that are currently being supported by Genio Trust in County Louth.
Genio Trust is based in Mullingar County Westmeath and combines private and government investment to target resources at socially innovative projects that are cost effective and sustainable. They operate in the fields of disability, mental health and dementia, and currently support 153 innovative projects all over Ireland with grants and with training, practical support and advice. The two projects that Genio Trust is supporting in co-operation with Praxis Care are based in Ardee and Drogheda.
The Drogheda based project is a partnership between Autism Support Louth Parent Group, ABACAS School Drogheda, HSE and Praxis care to provide innovative forms of day services for young people with autism and the Ardee based project is a new mental health service based in the community, in a partnership between the HSE and Praxis care, to assist individuals with their recovery from severe mental illness. Both projects are targeted at people from the county Louth area.
