London Marathon

The Virgin London Marathon is one of the world’s most famous road races.

As part of the World Marathon Majors|, it attracts runners from all over the world and the atmosphere is simply amazing.

So if there’s ever a marathon to take part in, this is the one.



2011 Deep RiverRock Belfast City Marathon

Belfast will host this year’s event on Bank Holiday Monday 2nd May. Over 20,000 runners are expected to hit the streets of North, South, East and West of the City.

The event has grown with the inclusion of new sponsors which now include Deep RiverRock, Belfast City Council, Sport Northern Ireland, Daily Mirror, Charles Hurst Renault, Athletics Northern Ireland, Premier Inn Hotel, Translink, Asics, Up and Running and U105.

Final cut-off point for entries will be Friday 16th April 2011.

The organisers have included a £2,000 bonus to the first male and female athletes to break the records set by Marty Deane in 1985 and Marashet Jumma in 2008.

The route will remain the same as the 2010 event; starting at the City Hall and finishing at Ormeau Park.

Dublin Women’s Mini Marathon Run

The Flora Women’s Mini Marathon is the biggest all women’s event of its kind in the world. It has grown steadily in numbers since it began in 1983 with its popularity increasing significantly over the last few years.

Please Note – this Event is strictly for FEMALES  ONLY – MALES  ARE  NOT  ALLOWED

Date/Time:  Bank Holiday Monday, 6th June 2011 at 3.00pm.

Distance: 10K.

Start: Fitzwilliam Square, Dublin 2.

Finish: St. Stephen’s Green, Dublin 2.

First Entry Form: The first Entry Form will be in the Evening Herald on Wednesday 2nd March 2011.

Closing Date: Wednesday 27th April 2011 or when maximum number of entries is reached.

Age Limit:  Participants must be at least 14 on Mini Marathon Day.

Timing Chip: All participants will be provided with a Timing Tag and those who enter as Runners or Fast Joggers must wear the Timing Tag. Elite Runners have to produce official results from a race,over the past two years ,showing they are capable of a 10K time under 45 minutes. Other Runners must do likewise to prove a time under 60 mins. Fast Joggers have shown that they are capable of jogging below 100 mins.

17euro – All ( On-Line entries will incur an extra 1 euro Bank Processing charge)

Entry Process: All participants must enter either on the official Entry Form which will appear in the Evening Herald every Wednesday and Saturday online at www.florawomensminimarathon.ie from 2nd March 2011.
