Praxis Care recently marked its 10th anniversary of providing intellectual disability services in Mullingar.
Service users, family members, staff and friends attended a celebration event in the Praxis Care residential home in Mullingar, Co Westmeath.
The event also saw the opening of a new sensory garden and sensory path for the service users.
Praxis Care, registered as a charity in 1983, is a major provider of services for adults and children with a learning disability, mental ill health, acquired brain injury and for older people, including people with dementia.
The Mullingar scheme provides accommodation and support services to 6 individuals with mild to severe intellectual disabilities and complex behaviour.
Olive Buckley, Manager of Praxis Care, Mullingar says:
‘Praxis Care provides a vital support service to the service users in the Mullingar area.
We work in partnership with service users, their families, HSE and Health Information and Quality Authority (HIQA) and a variety of local agencies to meet the needs of adults with intellectual disabilities to live a fulfilling and meaningful life in the community.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank the staff team for their work and commitment to the scheme over the years. We look forward to continuing our work in the future.’
