Local charities launch Remember a charity week
Local celebrity, Lynda Bryans, plants an apple tree for future generations to enjoy, at the Secret Garden in Hillsborough, as part of Remember a Charity Week in Northern Ireland.
Two charities in Northern Ireland, Praxis Care and Aware Defeat Depression are spearheading the national campaign, which has seen 140 charities in the British Isles joining together to remind the public to leave a legacy to charities in their will.
Lynda Bryans says:
“Legacies are the foundation for many of the charities in Northern Ireland and are vital in making sure that all the good work they do can continue. 74% of people in Northern Ireland support charities and when asked, 35% of people say they’d happily leave a gift in their will once family and friends had been provided for.
The problem is only 7% actually do!”
