Service Users at Praxis Care The Hub go from strength to strength during work placement

Two service users at The Hub day Service in Drogheda are going from Strength to Strength at their Work placement in Meade’s Potato Company.

Meade’s Potato Company are an Irish Family business located in Lobinstown, Co. Meath and are operating since 1982. The company has grown from a single packing store to include 150,000 sq. feet of packing facilities housing numerous state of the art production lines, with over 500,000sq. ft of loading and distribution space.

In February 2018 Meade’s welcomed these two men in on work placement and they have been attending on a weekly basis since then. It is clear to see that this is the highlight of their week and having this opportunity fills them with pride. The duties that they get involved in include the maintenance of the grounds and also working on the labelling and packaging on the production line.

On return to Drogheda on Tuesday afternoons both men are eager to tell everyone about all the hard work that they done during the day and it is obvious that the role holds great meaning for them- as does the dinner in the canteen afterwards!

Not only does this role fit the description of the type of work that both individuals have made clear that they would like to get involved in and are good at, it also provides them with a great opportunity for inclusion and building relationships in the community.

Keep up the great work!
