On Sunday 5th June Praxis Care, Larne organised and participated in the Big Lunch. The Big Lunch was a Lottery funded project based on a community initiative to get to know your neighbours. Due to the inclement weather, we are grateful to the principal of Larne Grammar School, Mr Wilson, who gave us the use of the school assembly hall and their facilities. Staff and service users from Larne DISH and Laurel Lodge worked tirelessly to prepare a range of delicious sandwiches, hot dogs and delectable cakes, buns and tray bakes.
The event was a huge success with approximately 70 people participating. Light musical entertainment was provided by Brian and the children were greatly entertained with face painting and a Punch and Judy show.
The original idea and success of the event was primarily down to Team Leader Jackie Greer. Jackie’s planning, preparation, enthusiasm and organisational skills ensured that everyone who attended enjoyed the afternoon and that the work of Praxis Care in the local community was promoted in a very positive light.
